Definitely go for it. Whenever I get involved in anything, I prefer to hit the ground running. In my first week, I learned that this team is not only continually building out new opportunities for me to get involved and grow — they’re out here cheering me on. You’d be hard-pressed to find this sense of support anywhere else.
Dream dinner guest?
My grandma before dementia. Nothing would make me happier than talking to her over eggplant omelettes and losing to her (badly) in Scrabble.
Why are you passionate about the life sciences?
My mom is a charge nurse in an emergency department, and I’ve grown up as a witness to her incredible strength and skill in not only having a deep understanding of complex physiological mechanisms, but also her ability to really build relationships with people and help them turn their health around for the better. I’ve always wanted, in my own way, to do the same thing. That desire continues to drive my interest and passion in the life sciences.
