Top life science communications firm promotes managing director and hires new senior vice president as it continues to grow its client roster of next-generation life science companies

SAN DIEGO, March 3, 2020Canale Communications Inc., an award-winning life science communications firm, has strengthened its leadership team through the appointment of Ian Stone to managing director. Additionally, the company has retained a new senior vice president, Steve Kunszabo, to bolster its investor relations expertise. The moves reflect the firm’s overall growth and success in serving innovation-driven companies.

Ian Stone, formerly a senior vice president with the company, has been promoted to managing director. Prior to joining Canale Communications in 2013, Stone held communications roles both in-house and in an agency setting, including with Pfizer and New York-based Russo Partners, where he served as assistant vice president. He has created and implemented strategic communications platforms for life science companies at virtually every stage of development, with projects that range from launching an initial corporate identity, to announcing venture rounds and clinical data, and supporting major commercial product launches and acquisitions.

In addition, Steve Kunszabo, an investor relations executive and corporate communications strategist with deep experience in serving technology and life science companies, has joined Canale Communications as a senior vice president, supporting the firm’s increased focus in investor relations. Most recently, Kunszabo was Vice President, Investor Relations and Corporate Communications at Organovo, Inc. (NASDAQ:ONVO), where he created and executed the first investor relations and corporate communications program for this developmental stage biotechnology company. Previously, Kunszabo  also held leadership positions at Iridium Communications Inc. (NASDAQ:IRDM) and Centennial Communications Corp (NASDAQ:CYCL; purchased by AT&T).

“By advancing Ian into the elevated role of managing director, we have further bolstered our senior leadership team to better serve our growing clientele of leading-edge life science companies,” said Carin Canale-Theakston, founder and chief executive officer of Canale Communications. “Additionally, as we grow alongside our clients who frequently make the transition to public markets, we are thrilled to welcome Steve and his strong background in life science investor relations and corporate communications.”
