Carin Canale-Theakston and Mark Cafferty, president and CEO of the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corp., met “the Doc” and his DeLorean at the Biocom pre-dinner reception.
Carin Canale-Theakston and the rest of the CanaleComm team partied like it was 1995 on Nov. 12 as they attended Biocom’s 20th Anniversary Annual Dinner.
Biocom, the life science trade organization for Southern California, planned its landmark event around the theme “Back to the Future.” And they went all out—even arranging for a real DeLorean (and a not-so-real “Doc Brown”) to be at the event for some prime Instagram action. Unfortunately, the flux capacitor had been removed from the vehicle for safety reasons.
To help mark the 20th anniversary of Biocom, CanaleComm’s editorial team contributed a cover story for the winter edition of LifeLines, the organization’s quarterly membership magazine. The article looked at the forces shaping the life science industry’s future, with insights on how money, big data, talent, sustainability and consumer empowerment will change the face of innovation in San Diego and beyond.

Congratulations to Biocom on 20 successful years. The life science industry in San Diego is strong and healthy because of you. We can’t wait to see what the next 20 will bring.
